還記得好小的時侯全台首家大型速食連鎖店「香雞城」？去問問五六年記生，他們一定還有印象在大概幼稚園到國中階段，只要一想到要吃「雞」，就非得去香雞城排隊不可！雖然它早在十多年前就幾乎不見蹤影，但那多重雞肉好滋味和有趣的啃雞方式依然深植吾心呀。
Do you still remember Chicken House, the first well-known chain fast-food restaurant taking Taiwan by storm in 1990s, mainly selling fried chickens as well as its characteristic rotisserie chickens which were specially eaten with a pair of plastic gloves? Though nearly vanished more than 10 years ago, Chicken House has always been kept alive in my mind together with its delicious chicken meat of various options and the interesting way of gulping them down.

** 首句…, the first well-known..., mainly selling fried chickens…皆是同位語的用法，主要是用來補充說明第一個逗點前的同位語”Chicken House”。逗點後的同位語用法其實是省略了關係代名詞(因為先行詞Chicken House是事物,所以用)which；省略關代後的格式就是後方如果是一般動詞，表主動的動詞以ing示之，被動就直接用p.p.,而be動詞就直接省略。如：I live in Toufen, a beautiful town in Miaoli county, usually visited by crowds of people in May due to Tung Blossom season.我住在頭份，一個位於苗栗縣的美麗城鎮，在五月間因桐花季之故，這裡吸引了大量觀光客。這句的原句是：I live in Toufen, which is a beautiful town in Miaoli county, which is usually visited by a crowds of people in May due to Tung Blossom season.這樣諸位可以看出它的規則了吧？在寫作裡很常用也很實用喔！

說到香雞城，十多年前那可真是無人不知，無人不曉的店呀！在麥當勞及肯德雞這兩號速食大佬進占台灣之前，ChickenHouse稱得上是男女老少心中最知名的速食餐廳了。在我印象裡頭，那也是首家讓我知道什麼是「漢堡」及「薯條」的店。一想到香雞城，第一個聯想到的就是雙手戴著塑膠手套大啖「土窯雞」和「琵琶雞」的爽樣啦！那種不用擔心搞得滿手都是油地徒手將「雞」給它四分五裂，並把熱騰騰且可口的戰利品往嘴裡塞的快感，實在是一想起便口水直流。在大快朵頤的同時接著藉由冰涼可樂的去油解膩，這種舒爽的感受可不是那些從沒體驗過香雞城的七八九年級生可以想像的。
Chicken House used to be chicken lovers’ first choice in Taiwan before McDonald and KFC began catching on. In my knowledge, it’s also the first place where I had ideas about hamburgers and French fries. When it comes to Chicken House, what pops into people’s mind is that consumers ought to wear a pair of plastic gloves offered by the restaurant in order to enjoy its popular Tu-Yao baked chicken and Pi-Pa baked chicken, which prevent consumers from touching any grease or oil while digging into the chicken heartily. Going with a cup of iced coke will definitely make one feel on top of the world. For those aged below 28 years, I believe they have a hard time imagining how enjoyable and refreshing it is when eating chickens in Chicken House.

不過，在我對這老字號速食餐廳之存活逐漸絕望之際，一回突然間被我撞個正著後才知道，原來全台還有這麼一家歷經了一二十年的風霜雪雨、速食市場的相互撕殺後依然屹立不搖地座落在「宜蘭」東門夜市旁的香雞城。宜蘭這全台唯一的香雞城，見証了台灣歷史的榮盛興衰，看盡了台灣民間的悲歡離合，終於，在眾多其它分店的一一被淘汰後，因為它的堅持、因為它對堅信能做出全台最好吃之手扒雞的熱衷、因為它不想讓這曾經是「雞」中傳奇的老字號速食餐廳成為人間絕響的意念，宜蘭東門夜市旁的「香雞城」終於拿到最後的勝利，終於可以苦盡甘來地受現代人所推崇，而且，它可以說已成為宜蘭最受矚目的”景點”之一喔！
Well, I did not think I could find any Chicken House on the island after most of its other chains were rumored to have been knocked out of the market many years ago until I suddenly ran into one in Yi-Lan. This one, located near Yi-Lan’s Tung-Men night market, must be the only Chicken House in Taiwan . After years of keen competition with its rivals on the market, it no doubt has been following a unique, tailor-made marketing strategy and embraced everlasting persistence to keep its place. It’s survival is a miracle and such a miracle discloses the fact of the House’s endeavoring to bringing out the best and most nostalgic chickens in Taiwan . This one and only Chicken House, full of legend, shall be enthroned in the hearts of the public. And you know what, this Chicken House is also one of the must-visit attractions in Yi-lan.

上回首次到店裡，那熟悉的裝簧，和孩童時期手扒雞的廣告及招牌，到加上外頭那站得直挺挺的「雞大叔」像，真是相當令人懷念。我和友人二話不說馬上點了一定得回味的手扒雞，再加上香雞城特有的蕃薯薯條以及可樂，當然，還少不了早期由「澎恰恰」廣告的小巧香腸大快朵頤。戴上吃手扒雞專用的塑膠手套，盡管雞身還是燙的，就這樣徒手地慢慢重拾小時侯那種熟悉的感覺；在我將雞肉撕下並送往嘴裡之際，我真的難以想像，天哪，我竟然還能再次嚐到二十年前的那種美味！老天爺呀，為什麼？為什麼二十年後我還能再次嚐到美味的香雞城手扒雞，我真的好擔心我以後再也吃不到了怎麼辦呢！
On walking into the restaurant for the first time, the lively remembrance of the typical chicken ads, the signs, and its exclusive Uncle Chicken statue was instantly revived because those classic decorations were vividly on display right in front of me. Without further ado, my friend and I ordered the must-eat rotisserie chickens of the House, together with its special sweet potato chips and coke. Of course we did not miss the mini sausages used to be commercialized on TV by a famous celebrity-Pon Cha Cha. With plastic gloves, we leisurely ate up our chicken meals despite of the chicken’s unbearable heat, and suddenly the nostalgia came to life, making me shed a few drops of sentimental tears. Oh my god! I couldn’t believe I still have a chance to dine in Chicken House again and I’m so much worried that the House will become history in the near future.
