In my opinion, different from what I had imagined, Business Class was not so difficult to work in.

Like working in EY, we have to face variable situations with invariable service attitudes when serving in J. There are in fact a number of situations arising from time to time, and as cabin crews we must always be ready to wittily deal with them.

I did not come across any big problems over my first two flights (the first one was HKG-SGN, and the second one was HKG-TPE-NRT-HKG ) when I worked in J class except a few embarrassing errors I made. Well, no one is perfect. We all grow with mistakes, don’t we? Experiences should be much more valued in spite of mistakes.

In spite of + N., S + V/In spite of the fact that S + V, S + V / Despite + N., S + V/Despite the fact that S + V, S + Vdespitein spite of的公式不一定要放在句首喔!例如:In spite of the heavy rain, Steven still went shopping yesterdayà In spite of the fact that it was raining heavily, Steven still went shopping yesterdayà Despite the heavy rain, Steven still went shopping yesterdayàDespite the fact that it was raining heavily, Steven still went shopping yesterday.

1 Embarrassing Error 1:

Well, Steve, although we have Economy Class orange juice here in Business Class, you should try to use the one for Business Class because it’s more high-class

Steve(in the middle of preparing welcome drinks)

P.S The orange juice for Business Class is the fresh one with a lot of pulps, while the one for Economy Class is nothing but punch juice.

糗事2 Embarrassing Error 2

Steve, you know this is J and not EY. So you should distribute one headset to one passenger respectively. Do not act like in EYgrab a bunch of them and pass to more than one passenger at the same time.

Steve(in the middle of distributing headset)

3 Embarrassing Error 3

Excuse me madam, would you like me to help with your luggage

某李:It’s ok, thank you. I think I can do it by myself.

Steve:(Observing a passenger who is about to carry a heavy luggage to the overhead compartment)

(I was then aware of the Miss L to be a “male” from her voice)

Though my previous J class flights were very smooth, I still made a fool of myself by acting awkwardly a few times. Except the previous small errors I made, my overall performance was still appreciated by my superiors and passengers (snickering). But frankly speaking, I am quite into working in J, because:

1). I can pick up a number of high standard service skills. (We ought to fill in passengers’ shoes.  They spend more money for J class than for EY, so they deserve to be treated very well. Thus, when serving J class passengers, we would naturally speak more politely and act more considerately.)

2). I may be more likely to serve some celebrities. (Some of my Taiwanese colleagues have already waited on the big shots such as the prestigious movie director-Peter Chan, Sandra Ng, Vivian Hsu, Zhang Ziyi, etc. So envious.)

3).I can eat various foods of superior quality. (Various options of food such as high-class seafood rice, red wine meat stew with rice, top-quality Italian noodles, cakes, fruits, ice creams, etc. are so welcome to us as long as there are extra portions. No wonder it’s said that the more you work in J the more pounds you will gain.)

** pounch應為punch
