A few days ago when I was having 4 days off from work, I went to Kaohsiung to visit my old friend-Mother Pao and we both went to Guanying Mountain for an annual hiking together.

Mother Pao is just like my second mother, who always treats me as her real son, as well as my respected mentor, who guided me to get into the deeper world of buddhism. There was a time when I pursued MA degree in translation and interpreting in NKFUST (National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology), during which I also suffered from a terrible illness, it was she that encouraged me to make it a habit to go mountain hiking with her until I got a full recovery from my poor health. It worked out eventually.

** 第二句的…, during which …

** 如果go後面所接的是一些休閒娛樂等的動詞,如:picnic(野餐)fish(釣魚)shop(購物)play(玩… 球類運動)jog(慢跑)… Would you like to go jogging with me tomorrow afternoon? Steven and I will go shopping together this evening.

Located in Da-shae township in Kaohsiung County, Guanying Mountain attracts a number of people to visit to get a glimpse into its breathtaking beauty filled with mountainous aura and for routine hiking exercise. Weekends in particular are the occasion when you can see it swarm with visitors.

** 第一句Located in…, Cuan-Ying Mountain attracts… Guanying Mountain is located in…, Guanying Mountain attracts…

Mother Pao told me that early morning is the best time to get exercise, and hiking is what she had been practicing for ages. By means of the everyday hiking in Guanying Mountain , she is able to keep in shape and have the cancer developed in her two decade ago well controlled. I think I was destined to take her advice, and this explains why I said yes to her without hesitation when Mother Pao asked me to join her and started my morning hiking exercise for many months in a row

Through her lead, I experienced dozens of trails and paths, up and down, craggy and smooth. As long as you can fully focus on every step you make and every sense you feel in this mountain, the ground, the plants, the magnificent views, and the refreshing air will magically open up minds to help attain the state of joyfulness you haven’t had ever.

Of all the routes, the ones going to Shiou-chi temple are my favorite because I can approach and show my respect to the grand statue of Guanying Bodhisattva which holds the most dignified and compassionate image I’ve ever seen. The first time when I was in the presence of this statue of Guanying, I was so touched with unknown reasons that I felt like I’d chanced upon an old friend I hadn’t met for a long long time. With immense sincerity and reverence deep in my heart, I all of a sudden made a promise to Guanying that I would come annually and would try to shake off bad habits little by little in order to be a better man.

This time, when standing respectfully in front of the Guanying Bodhisattva of Shiou-chi temple, I made this line, “My old friend, Guanying Bodhisattva, it’s been a long time. I’m here to see you again”, as a usual opening phrase.
