** not only...but (also) 或 not only…but…as well是英文裡很常用的「不但…而且…」的用法。很多時侯它的文法是這樣的àS + V + not only…(動詞位置和not only可互調，但助動詞和be動詞一定都在前面喔), but also + V或 N (also可以省略或在句尾加上as well，亦或兩者都不加也可)…如：He can not only speak English, but (he can) also Spanish / but Spanish as well. (he can可以省略)他不但會說英文，且西班牙語也會。但是，若not only置於句首，和not only在一起的那一句要「倒裝」，也就是動詞要在主詞前面， but後頭的句子照抄。例：Not only can he speak English, … 另例：He is not only a Taiwanese, but also a Japanese.他不只是台灣人，也是日本人。Not only is he a Taiwanese, but (he is) also a Japanese. 您看看，他們的賀卡有給爸爸的、給媽媽的、孫子女的、給哥姐弟妹的、給爺爺奶奶的、給寶寶的、連給姪子姪女的都有，還有分祝賀的、慰問的、搞笑版的、感謝的、浪漫的、週年慶的，有音樂的（而且音樂不是像台灣的只有單音而已，而是像唱片裡立體聲的那種）…天哪~送個賀卡還得搞得這麼複雜是怎樣！

Furthermore, they are even classified into Congratulation, Sympathy, Funny, Thanksgiving, Romantic, Anniversary, and the types with music integrated (the stereophonic music in these cards is just like the one from record, quite differing from Taiwan’s monotonic music without lyrics.) Gosh, I really cannot figure out why westerners like to make lives so complicated even for sending greeting cards.
