When working in-flight, we cabin crews need to try our best to rein in our tempers and keep our voice in check from time to time in order to show our professional images. Well, there are still some exceptional situations that will trigger outbursts.
You know what, actually we flight attendants should always act, no matter what, gently and nicely to passengers. However, when it comes to safety requirements with which passengers fail to comply, the story would probably be different. For passengers’ own good, we would unwittingly roar (especially in the following situation) to alert them if the non-physical game plan seems to be in vein.
**第二句…when it comes to safety requirements with which passengers fail to comply…它的原句是:…when it comes to safety requirements which passengers fail to comply… Toufen is a beautiful town which I live in = Toufen is a beautiful town in which I live.
On my last Singapore turnaround flight, there were incidents that made me and the other crew see red. We couldn’t help yelling a couple of times in the cabin.
S + cannot help + Ving = S + cannot but / cannot help but + 原V = S + have / has no choice / alternative but to V
It is a safety requirement that all the passengers should remain seated with their seatbelts fastened during take-off, turbulence, and landing, and they are allowed to unfasten their seatbelts or leave their seats when seatbelt-on signs are off. But some passengers are just too ignorant to obey this rule simply because they, say in the course of landing or taking off, want to stand up to change seats or walk to the toilet to take a leak. The reason why this requirement has been strictly enforced is because there used to be a number of cases that passengers got hurt due to their overlooking such rule when turbulence suddenly turned severe.
My God, this Singapore turnaround flight was such a nightmare because it was the first flight that the other crew and I, both sitting behind the last row of seats in the last cabin, had to yell to the top of our lungs many times to make those disobedient passengers do accordingly:”前面的先生,請您坐下!”, ”小姐,站起來危險,請妳坐下並將安全帶扣好 (Sir, please take your seat.”, “Madam, it’s dangerous to stand up. Please take your seat with your seatbelt fastened”)…
I remember I picked up the interphone to make Mandarin PA (Public Announce) more than three times, “各位旅客,航機降落期間,為了您的安全起見,請留在座位並將安全帶緊扣。(Ladies and Gentlemen, in the course of landing, for your own safety, please be seated with your seatbelt fastened)” (since those ones who were standing up were Mandarin speakers, I had to make Mandarin PA right away) I don’t know why, they didn’t listen to my words in the beginning and did whatever they wanted to do. In the meantime, my partner, the other crew, also cried out for their misbehaviors but they still kept walking to the toilet or taking down their baggage from overhead compartments. Couldn't they do at the last minute? Is it necessary that they be that hasted? Safety is always the top priority, isn’t?
Well, thanks god they finally kept our remarks in mind. I think this might be because we had no choice but go all out to shout out loud to make them listen for their own safety.
After this flight I know why many crews do not like this flight, tiring and difficult to handle. Next time if I’m rostered with this flight and cannot swap it away, I’d better bring some Ninjiom Herbal Candy, or I will definitely have a sore throat after the duty ends.
