如果你問我，目前吃過最好吃的外站海鮮是啥？那俺告訴你，這可非紐西蘭的「淡菜」莫屬了。

If you ask me, "what’s the most delicious seafood I’ve ever tasted in our out-ports", I would love to tell you that nothing could beat the super yummy New Zealand mussels.

首次到奧克蘭真的是難忘到爆。不但有機會體驗當地舒服且愜意的生活步調，還很幸運地能嚐到紐西蘭的知名特產--「淡菜」。註：淡菜又名貽貝或孔雀貝。

My first time to set foot in Auckland was quite a blast. Not only did I have a chance to expose myself to the comfortable and laidback life there, but I was also lucky enough to try out one of the well-known specialties in New Zealand --the Mussels.
 

很感謝我的一位台籍SP(機艙事務長)的帶領，我們到一家叫Occidental的餐廳吃淡菜。這家餐廳佈置得就像是一家酒吧一樣，吸引人們到此地小聚、聊天、和吃吃東西，對大多數我們這些喜好品味傳說中的紐西蘭淡菜的組員們來說，它可說是一個朝聖地呢！這次，我們點了三鍋以白蘭第酒以及起司烹調的和一盤用蒜頭和辣椒烤的淡菜來吃。天哪，它們真的是一整個美味到不行。我想我一定會再多換幾班奧克蘭的班來飛，就只為了要享受這裡淡菜的美味呀！您知道嗎？即使是鍋內剩下的湯底，也會成為我們爭相搶食的部份，因為它也是這貽貝的精華，有很高的營養價值說。

Thanks to one of my SP’s (Senior Purser) guidance, we dropped in the Occidental restaurant to eat mussels. Decorated like a barroom drawing people here for a small gatherings, chats, or simply dining, the Occidental restaurant becomes a real magnet for most of the crews in my company who would like to taste the legendarily savory New Zealand Mussels. Served in a big pot with a large number, the mussels are freshly prepared and cooked in many different flavored. This time, we ordered three big pots of them cooked with brandy wine and cheese, and one plate of roasted ones flavored with garlic and chili. My Gosh, they were incredibly awesome! I think I will try to swap more AKL flights for the purpose of enjoying this delicious seafood. You know what, even the soup left in the pots is also something we would fight for because it’s the essence of mussels and of value in nutrition. 

 

停留在奧克蘭期間，除了吃淡菜之外，俺也造訪了一些知名景點，到這挑高328公尺，號稱南半球最高之建築的「天空塔」上俯瞰整個奧克蘭市是其中的一項行程。此塔可讓您四面八方遙望 八十公里 遠的美景，而天空塔就在我住的飯店旁而已，組員們們只要秀出公司的ID卡可免費喔。很可惜的是這一次天氣多雲又下雨，不然我可能會參加市區觀光或者當地的一些活動讓俺對奧克蘭留下更多美好回憶。

In addition to the mussel-tasting experience during my stay in Auckland , I also visited some attractions there. One example is overlooking the whole city on the top of the famous Sky Tower , the tallest structure in southern hemisphere, 328 meters in height and offering breathtaking views for up to 80 kilometers in every direction. The tower is just adjacent to my hotel, and the admission is free of charge for us crew if we show our company ID card. Well, it’s a pity that it was cloudy and raining this time or I would probably have gone on a city tour or join some local activities as other beautiful memories of New Zealand .

 **..it’s a pity that...or I would probably have gone on...這後半句所用的would have + p.p.是假設語氣中的「後悔」用法。主詞S + would/could/should/might + 過去分詞P.P. 的公式是表示過去應做或想做但未做的用法，有點後悔過往的意味。如：I should have met Steven last week when I got back to Taiwan . 我上週回台時應該要拜訪Steven。(表示上週有回台但是沒有造訪Steven)。If I had studied hard, I could have passed the exam. 假如我有用功些，我就可以通過考試。(表示他之前沒有過功，所以考試沒過)。

到奧克蘭，我們大多數的組員不會忘記做兩件事：一就是到Occidental餐廳品味淡菜，二便是帶點當地的蜂蜜回家。這兒的蜂蜜真的是特別又好吃說。台籍的SP建議我要買Manuka這款蜂蜜，因其才是上等之貨，優於其它各式的品牌。這種蜂蜜和我們在台灣吃的不同，它的顏色是焦糖色且帶有特殊天然的香味，比它其種類的蜂蜜還美味，而且對腸胃還深具療效說。據說這種蜂蜜含有紐西蘭蜂所分泌的特殊酵素，對人體和健康都有很大的好處。我因此買了 一公斤 裝的一大罐回來，這應該是我這趟AKL班所買的最「養生」的記念品了。

There are two main things many of us crews will not forget to do in this out-port: one is to check out Occidental and try some mussels, the other is to buy some local honey home. The honey here is very special and flavorful. Suggested by a Taiwanese SP, the Manuka honey is the choice one among other bewildering options. Different from what we usually eat in Taiwan, this kind of honey, caramel-colored with special and natural fragrance, is much tasty than its counterparts and has therapeutic effects for gastrointestinal problems. Honey of this sort is said to contain special enzymes produced by bees in New Zealand which is more beneficial for human body and health. I thus bought a big bottle of it, weighted in 1 K, and this can be the most “healthful” souvenir I’ve got in AKL.
