Alan

This was my second time to operate the JFK flight. Flying with one of my best colleagues, Alan, made this journey extremely enriching.

I am actually not very much interested in American flights. The main reason for this is that I don’t like the killing jet lag (the time difference between the U.S. and Taiwan exceeds 10 hours), nor do I like the food there (mostly baked or deep-fried, high in calorie). Every time I receive the swapping invitations for American flights, I will generally turn them all down. If it had not been for the fact that I could fly with my colleague, Alan, and learn mutually in flight, hang out together in New York city, which is familiar to both of us, and the good allowance provided for this out-port, I would definitely have swapped it away for another good long-haul.

The main reason …I don’t like…., nor do I like… Steven doesn’t smoke, nor does he drink alcohol. = Steven doesn’t smoke, and neither does he drink alcohol. = Steven doesn’t smoke, and he doesn’t drink alcohol, either. Steve decided to quit gambling, and so did his wife. = Steve decided to quit gambling, and his wife did, too.

** Every time S + V, S + V 為「每當…,…」 Each time S + V, S + V = Whenever S + V, S + V

Alan can be viewed as the colleague most compatible to me among others in my company. As long as we both are at leisure at the same time, we will normally chat, gossip about our work, dine out in good restaurants, or hang out together. I am a little bit senior to the lad in age, and thus we oftentimes call each other brothers in private. Alan performs very well at work and used to be a cabin crew of another airline; therefore, he can be the one after whom I could model myself when we work in the same flight. I felt quite honored to have this valuable chance to fly with Brother Alan, and surely we got to make the most of our two-and-a-half-day layover in New York .

Alan performs very well…, …after whom I could…此句的原句為:…, he can be the one who I could model myself after when …

For this JFK flight, we stayed in Brooklyn . When in Brooklyn, visiting the famous Brooklyn Bridge is one of the must-dos. The lad and I did something crazy: we went to the Bridge on foot, and then walked all the way to the Broadway area in Manhattan , taking us nearly two hours. The prospect from the Bridge to the Manhattan Island is so breathtaking that we did not forget to digitally captured some great shots in memory of this journey. But you know, this “long journey” cost a lot of our energy, and I, perhaps impacted by the jet lag, was on the verge of fainting when we reached Manhattan.

In addition, we also went to the main tourist attraction of New York City —Time Square, in which we went window shopping for clothing and souvenirs. On the second day of our arrival, Alan’s Taiwanese classmates—Quennie, Jessica, my classmate—Tiffiny, and another Taiwanese colleague—Ben operated the same flight together to New York , too. Many of us had meals together in a well-known Chinese restaurant in Chinatown and in an American restaurant nearby our hotel for small gatherings. I feel so lucky to have flown a flight in which I encountered so many Taiwanese colleagues.

My Taiwanese colleagues. They're hot, aren't they!
